Guest guest
My father is a dentist so I went straight to him when the ped gave us a script for flouride. He said it really depends on the amount of flouride in your water supply. For our area he said he wasn't really concerned about it - go ahead and give the drops when we remembered and don't worry about any forgotten doses. But then i read the bottle on the flouride drops and it says " Do Not Give With Milk " - gets my milk to top of just about every meal so she doesn't get the drops very often! --- Laurie Mondville wrote: > I have a ? on floride. Guest guest
Someone recently posted some websites about the use of fluoride and I did check them out. Fluoride is really not necessary at all and is even over used--we use fluoride free toothpaste and drink fluoride free water and we're fine and healthy--generally we get enough from our diet........If you're interested in looking at the sights I can send them to you later. Only got a second now, not time to go search for them...... Fawn

Guest guest
Fawn, I personally don't use flouride for myself or my children. We use flouride free toothpaste and bottled drinking water. My teeth are in the best condition of my life since changing to flouride free toothpaste. Once again I am going against popular opinion but everything I have read and researched about flouride has led me to the decision to cut it out of our life. Of course it is a very personal decision and one I made after extensive research. Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding resources and info Re: Floride ? Guest guest
Lynn, They do all of it. The flouride treatments every six months is standard practice still. Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding resources and info Re: Floride ? I have permanently stained and ugly yellow teeth from too much flouride as a child. But then I had flouride treatments at the dentist every 6mo (nasty, I hope they don't do those any more), flouride vitamins daily, floridated water, and of course flouride toothpaste. I'm sure that just one or two of those would not be as bad. Lynn Re: Floride ? Pediatricians give fluoride drops out pretty haphazardly. Talk to your dentist first and find out if they are necessary. Too much fluoride causes discoloration and mottling of the permanent teeth. The amount of fluoride in most tap water is adequate--or even in the little dab of toothpaste that a child will swallow rather than spitting out at a slightly older age.
