Dominick's Eye Doctor Appointment

Well we went yesterday to Richmond and I was hoping to at least have an

answer about everything, but noooo,lol. Actually it's ok. As I said I

was unsure if the fact that we had not started the patching of one eye

would delay things and the answer is YES. Because the brain can be

amazing at times, the dr. would like to let him wear his patch for two

hours a day now instead of one for 4 weeks, to see if it will help with

the crossing at all. I am glad that she is willing to exhaust all

options before jumping into surgery but we only have a small time frame

so that is why it will only be for 4 weeks.Sometimes if the vision in

the weaker eye is strengthened(by patching the stronger)the brain will

get that muscle acting right, but it is a very slim chance. I have been

thoroughly prepared for the fact that he probably has two problems, one

vision and the other muscular and it will more than likely take the

surgery to correct it but still why not give the patching a try. We go

back on the 7th of Feb. and we will schedule the surgery then unless by

Carol,

It's amazing what some little ones have to go through. Dominick must

have something really special in store for his life because this must

be making him stronger for a reason. I'll say a prayer for your

family - as I know the waiting period is sometimes more frustrating

than the actual event.

road as you can look back and see all you've been through - not to

mention it helps all of us who are just starting the journey.

Carol,

It's amazing what some little ones have to go through. Dominick must

have something really special in store for his life because this must

be making him stronger for a reason. I'll say a prayer for your

family - as I know the waiting period is sometimes more frustrating

than the actual event.

My 4 year old son has had glasses now for about 4 months and has been wearing the patch 6 - 8 hours a day for the past month. There is a support website: http://www.preventblindness.org/children/EyePatchClub.html

There are some good tips on the website, such as it helps them forget about the patch if you do an activity with them while they have the patch on...something such as painting, coloring or a game of bean bag toss.

I always say we are given these special little ones for a reason,

after the year we have had it better be something good,LOL. Honestly,

I know he has a message for the world.....can't wait to see what it

all turns out to be. I am hoping to keep his website going at least

into his early school years to help track longer term out comes on

plagio babes.

Dominick couldn't have been born to a better mom. You are great at

doing research, exhausting all options, finding answers, not giving

up, etc, etc.

I must admit that some days I get tired reading what you've been

through on your various journeys with Dominick's health issues, but

most days I'm inspired.

I think Dominick's working on a message of " blazing his own trail. "

Independent, adventurous, unpredictable... all good qualities.

Thanks. Today is one of those days for me....I'm just tired,lol. He

is however taking to the eye patching well, so thank goodness for

small miracles. My Dominick is definitely blazing his own trail and

on the good days when I have the time to enjoy life through his eyes,

it can be alot of fun and very eye opening too. He's gonna teach us

all something for sure one day.
