Guest guest
Try finding a whole food supplement at a health food store. Crushing and putting in her food should not be a problem. One brand not sold in stores but that comes from practitioners is Standard Process. If you go to the company website they can put you in touch with an outlet. Their products are 100% from organic food and they are palatable. C. Sonnier Vitamins Hello everyone we are new here. Our daughter Miranda 2 1/2 years old just started the diet a little over a week ago. We were told to give her vitamins ( " One A Day " ) but she absolutely hates the taste so that we can't mix it in food, except in very small amounts. Her dietician is on vacation and the on call one had no suggestions. So we are a little stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thank you . , , and Miranda

Guest guest
PLEASE note..... ANY vitamin supplement you use should be OK-ed by your Keto team. You will need to know an exact carb count so it can be calculated in. I have no experience whatsoever with the product mentioned in this post. Please check with your team after calling the company for exact numbers. Patti Re: Vitamins Try finding a whole food supplement at a health food store. Guest guest
I am not sure if this is the right way to do it, but we crush 's multivitamin and put it in her cream - she does not seem to mind that. When she was on antibiotics recently, I measured a small amount of butter - about 1.6 grams and mixed the crushed pill with the salted butter and then gave it to on a spoon at the beginning of her meal and followed it right away with her diluted cream. She did not like the taste but it got flushed down pretty quickly and left to her enjoy her meal without worrying about finding yucky bits in it. This method may work with the vitamins especially that you only have to do it once per day. I hope that this helps. Guest guest
Hi Gilda, I don't know the stats on the vitamin but Hopkins feels it's the best choice for the diet. Also we have used Polyvisol a liquid vitamin used for infants and toddlers. My son stomachs it best. No problems. It is usually with regular vitamins maybe with the baby stuff. We used to use carnitor pre-diet. When we started the diet Hopkins didn't feel it necessary to continue it for some reason. So we haven't. Guest guest
This is a question to all of you long timer celiacs...or maybe some of you newbies have answers too I guess. I am AD (after diagnosis) for about nine months now. When I was diagnosed I didn't receive any help, just a " you have celiac disease " kind of a thing. I think that I have done pretty well as far as removing all gluten from my lifestyle, but as still have trouble processing my food right. I KNOW that I am not getting the nutrients that I should and still don't feel all that great. I do know that it takes time, but I still suffer so much. I have really been miserable since my gallbladder surgery(long story), and can't seem to get over this hump. There are weeks that I feel good and then I don't for awhile. I'm not just talking stomach stuff. I mean the works. I am soooo tired and have headaches and light headedness, and just plain feel lousy. I know that I could still be making mistakes here or there, but not often enough to be down and out for a week or two at a time. ANYWAY, my point being is that I would like to know what vitamins all of you take. Currently I take a multi-vitamin and acidophilus/bifidum. I stopped taking the probiotics for awhile because I felt like it made my tummy worse. I just recently started again and I know feel like it's worse again. Why would that be or can that be? I am guessing I should be taking some sort of enzymes, but I don't know what. So, with all of that said - PLEASE HELP!! Any input, thoughts, feelings, whatever would be helpful right now. Thanks everyone and have a great Friday - well, for that matter have a great weekend!! Rhiannon

Guest guest
I went for a check up yesterday more for female issues than anything and asked the nurse practitioner what vitamins I should take, she recommended centrum Silver even though I'm 44, she said it had all the vitamins and minerals I'd need to replace what I'm not getting on the GF diet, provided I am eating a variety of other healthy foods. :-) Re: vitamins I like the Viactiv multi-vitamin soft chews. also the calcium chews too(they are tastier than the vitamins ones, but we need vitamins too!)>> This is a question to all of you long timer celiacs...or maybe some > of you newbies have answers too I guess. Guest guest
I know that Viactiv has calcium carbonate in it and that is the most non-digestable calcium out there, so I don't care to take those. Thanks for your input though. > > > > This is a question to all of you long timer celiacs...or maybe > some > > of you newbies have answers too I guess. Guest guest
Here is a response to Rhiannon's question from my mother (who is involved in the vitamin industry but not affiliated with any of the companies she recommends.) She's given a lot of people advice on what supplements to take for various health complaints, and is always researching new products etc. - Basic recommendations for gluten free supplements: 1.Multi vitamins & minerals, food based from a company whose entire product line is gluten free and hypoallergenic. Eg:Super Nutrition in Oakland, Ca. 1- www.supernutritionusa.com (A one-per-day type will NOT be sufficient, please choose one which suggests multiple doses.) 2.Omegas, from flaxseed oil or a combination including it. Eg:Barlean's Organic Oils in Ferndale, Wa.1- www.barleans.com 3.Enzymes, a full spectrum formula to digest all types of food, such as Vitase Digestion formula by Prevail. Eg:Prevail in Or. & Green Bay, Wi. 1- www.prevail.com A more thorough program would benefit all, however this is to get you started on nutritional supplementation: Multiple vitamins/minerals for covering the bases, omegas to enhance the assimilation and aid in brain function, and enzymes to aid in digestion. These are best utilized by taking them each multiple times per day with food. All of these are readily available from your local health food store.Remember it is absolutely critical to remove all traces of gluten from your environment, then you can achieve better health. After working with hundreds of people the past years, I realize you have more questions.Ask away. Best wishes for your good health, > > Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2006 10:45 PM > > To: SillyYaks > > Subject: vitamins > > > > > > > > This is a question to all of you long timer celiacs...or maybe > some > > of you newbies have answers too I guess. Guest guest
& , Thanks for your interesting info on vitamins/supplements... What I would really LOVE is a vitamin that made me feel like I did when I was pregnant! I never felt healthier or happier than when I was p....... I'm sure it was a hormonal thing, but boy, would I love to feel that way again, without being p, of course!!! LOL Cheryl in Maine
