Guest guest
To think that colleges and universities model private businesses is humorous. Did you know that the State of Texas has suspended formula funding for health science centers in Texas? That's means that I could triple my enrollment and the university will not receive one cent more in budget increases? The State of Texas has not given cost of living increases to the university faculty in nearly TEN YEARS! The major 4 year colleges in Texas are working to make college more accessible; in fact, they are being legally challenged to do so and no one is saying that it's so the college can make more money. Having the state's only clinically-oriented BS program in EMS, I want enrollment to increase. But I can assure you it's not because I'm going to make money - it's because I have a personal desire to see EMS be something more than it is and I'm doing it one degree at a time. It should come as no surprise that those in the educational profession would be more likely to support and value increased educational requirements and those who have to pay for it are more likely to not support it but my salary, nor those fat-cat university presidents, is changing based on the outcome. Guest guest
Lance, We too have suffered through the budget cuts here in North Texas. I like you do not make anymore if my enrollment is up or down. We are also being challenged to make our courses in EMS more accessible with less money. I like you will continue to do the best job I can to provide this service because I too believe that education will be the key to help EMS evolve into the position everyone wants it to be in.
