Guest guest
Hello there. I live in Orlando. I want an " assessment " on my daughter's severity of Plagio. The nearest CT facility is in Miami and my husband is NOT supportive, so it will be difficult for me to get down there by myself with my DD. There is a OrthoAmerica facility in Orlando/Winter Park with a star scanner. Do you know if the STAR band facilities do assessments? If so, how much do they charge? Do you need a referral? Just curious, it is New Year's Eve and they won't be open until Tuesday, so I thought I'd seek input here. Guest guest
Why is your DH unsupportive? Hopefully once you get a diagnosis from a professional, he'll see that this is in the best interest of your daughter . ANyway, we are going through CT, and this was our experience. I brought up my concern with the pediatrician. She had a " script " pad from CT, checked the photo/evaluate boxes and we went down for our free eval. They took tons of pics and measurements and told us that he was outside the " norm " and would be a good candidate. Not sure how other places work, but our eval was free. mommy to Rhys getting DocBand 1/13 > > Hello there. I live in Orlando. I want an " assessment " on my > daughter's severity of Plagio. Guest guest
Hello. Many facilities will do free consultations to take some measurements and tell you, in their opinion, if they think your child would benefit from a band. Whether or not you ned a referral would depend on what Insurance you have. You may want to check with them, but you wouldn't need a referral for the free consult. If you do decided to go for the band, the cost of the scanning or casting, the band, and all the appts is all lumped together and usually ranges from about $1500 to $3000. Insurance may or may not cover some or all if that cost. Sometimes you have to appeal in order to get Ins to cover it. Good luck and keep us updated. Guest guest
That sounds very frustrating. We were lucky that my dd didn't have any fevers while in her band, but it isn't something you can really control. Especially if your little one is in daycare - since they tend to get exposed to more. Sydney had roseola too, and the fever is scary. Luckily in our case she was older and out of her band. Does his band still fit after6 mo? My dd wore her starband for 5 mo which I think is on the longer side. If he's wearing it when he can then you're doing the best you can. I'm hoping he'll stay healthy and grow quickly for the next month or two. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > My baby is 10 months old and he's been in the star band helmet > for about 6 months now.
