TK--- almost all antibiotics of any kind kill off all bacteria good and bad in your gut which can cause problems, die off symptoms can be just as bad and the same as Hg symptoms. Many find that consistent control with diet first, probiotics and then possibly natural antifungal agents works much better than trying to kill everything off. If you have hg toxicity the theory is that until you get enough out you will not be able to get rid of the bacteria problems and possibly the Lyme problems, they can be kept under control or at least minimized. > > Please forgive me if I should be perusing the archives for this > information. Guest guest
Hi , I know this is kind of an old post, and I hope you are feeling better, but I was the person that seemed to reacted badly to antibiotics this fall. I'll make some comments below. Jackie T. Does Ceftriaxone/Rocephin chelate mercury? Hello, I read a post recently warning not to take certain types of antibiotics because they chelate mercury. I've recently done three weeks or so of the antibiotic Rocephin -- brand name for Ceftriaxone -- via IV infusion, and I've had a setback since then. I've read that Ceftriaxone chelates calcium and possibly iron, but I've found nothing about mercury or heavy metals. Anyone have info on how this drug may affect mercury-poisoned individuals? ---------I don't have any info on this, only what was stated on this board. I had two doses/rounds of Levaquin this fall, and the second dose really set me back, and felt like it stirred up mercury, but that's only my perception of it.-------Jackie T. Also, any other advice would be appreciated to help me overcome this setback. I had gotten sidetracked on trying to get a leg up on a mycoplasma and possible Lyme infection, hence the Rocephin try, but I'm planning to resume chelation (early stages, with 25 mg. DMSA) soon. Could you help me with what to do about this sense of pressure in my head? Sometimes I feel as if my head is in a vise. -------I think if you feel up to resuming chelation, that may be what you need to help. It seems to be helping me somewhat. I had some weird sensations in my head too, especially on the first two days of my last round, but then it cleared by the third day. I almost thought I was going to have to lower my dose. I just started another round today, and didn't get any weird head sensations, and it gave me a " lift " like it usually does, although probably not as much as sometimes. So for me, continuing to chelate seems to be the only thing that is really helping.-------Jackie T> It keeps my body in a state of stress and makes it hard to think. I'd had this before but gotten past it. -------So what did you do before to get past this? I would do the same thing again, and if it was chelation, then that's what I would do.-------Jackie T. Also, I'll get this odd sensation in my mouth, like when you chew on tin-foil. (I had my amalgams replaced over a year ago.) And my digestion/appetite gets in this wierd, sort-of stalled state. -------Yes my eating patterns seem kind of messed up too, I guess I was blaming it on the yeast/candida.----------Jackie T> I'm currently not doing Rocephin, but I am doing 200 mg/day of Doryx (a version of Doxycycline) and 100 mg/day on and off to keep a fungal issue at bay. ...just mentioning that in case it might be related. ---------The antibiotics definitely caused increased yeast/candida for me, and dealing with that has been tricky, because I have made myself feel worse by trying to attack it too hard. So I have to take it easy on that.--------Jackie t. Please forgive me if I should be perusing the archives for this information. It's just about all I can to do post this at the moment. Thanks for any help. ---------I don't know if I was any help, but hope you are doing better, and just wanted to let you know you're not alone! Good luck!---------Jackie T>
