My D & C was exactly 4 weeks post partum. My baby was born, the

placenta was manually removed and I continued to bleed heavily for

two or three days. In fact, I was kept in the hospital an extra day

because the docs kept me on Pitocin trying to get my uterus to

contract back down after delivery. I eventually hemorrahaged, a D & C

was performed where retained placenta was found as well as a severe

infection. I ended up with two blood transfusions and I never got

another period, ever until after my corrective surgery this Aug. Dr

Palter said my case was definitely severe. He said my uterus was 98-

100% closed, including the cervix so nothing could go in or come

out. Hope this helps.
