This is my first time on a web site like this and I am not a strong computer person. No, the baby is not receiving therapy. What do you mean by a free CT evaluation place? I will have my daughter over next week and we will go to the sites you are referring to and I hope to encourage her to seek more help and not play the wait and see card her Dr. wants her to play. Her Dr. must not see many cases like this, because his nurse didn't know what Torticollos was. So shouldn't he refer them to someone that deals with this everyday? I feel so much better knowing there is someone out there for help. Tears came to my eyes when you all started reposnding to my plea. They're the leaders in treating plagio babies. It's all they do and they're excellent at it. Your Granddaughter will receive an honest assessment of her plagio. If she's too mild to band, they'll tell you so. They send many parents away to reposition their baby. Your daughter at the very least should be doing stretches at home with the baby. A baby with mild torticollis can be treated simply by this and do fine. A baby that has moderate to severe tort(head turned in one direction most times, inability to have full range of motion, a noticable head tilt chin to shoulder) should be seen by a physical therapist along with the home stretches. Tort can cause worsening of the plagio as well as facial asymmetry and even developmental delays if severe. Click here for some documents and the stretches for torticollis. If you think the tort is moderate to severe you can contact the local Early Intervention birth to three program for your state. They can provide therapy at no cost or low cost if the baby is accepted. You can usually call your local health dept. for contact names and numbers or do an internet search with your state and the words "Early Intervention birth to three". I read your other post and I wanted to tell you that my pediatrician kept ignoring me every time I mentioned my baby's head, until I brought him a lot of information on plagio and I asked (semi-demanded) that he referred me to a specialist. He gave us a referral to see a neurosurgeon who prescribed a helmet and physical therapy for our boy. I tell you all this because we didn't want to change pediatricians over this, we like him a lot and we trust him with our boy's health, but the shape of our baby's head needed professional help. In the mean time we've been repositioning him as much as we can and I we see improvement on the flat spot, it looks more round now, but baby still needs a helmet because his ears/eyes are uneven and we hope the helmet will help correct that, along with physical therapy for his torticollis. By all means follow the good advice given here by others, a free evaluation at cranial tech will help your daughter understand things better, and it doesn't hurt a bit. check this link with repositioning ideas: grandma's tool at capps and just try to keep her off her flat spot as much as posible, every little bit helps. take care and good luck! The location we went to charged $150 and I thought it was worth it to get the scan done and get a better feel for how severe or how mild my son's case of plagio was. Hope this helps!
