Guest guest
My son has been in his DOC band for 7 1/2 weeks and has only grown 5mm. The past 4 , and has not grown at all. Now that I know the band only lasts 4 months total, I am very worried it will not end up working and it will all be a wasted effort. Has anyone else had a slow-grower and did they catch up with a growth spurt before the band came off? Thanks for any input!!! Guest guest
Lia, How old is ? Cece was banded from 9-12 mo. She had a long time without much growth but then had a nice little spurt at the end. She had her 12 mo checkup yesterday and only weighs 16 lbs 7 oz! It was a little bit frustrating at times. Our son was banded from 5- 8 mo and his correction was super fast due to how much he was growing. It was hard not to compare! Mom to Dane 4 yo and Cece 12 mo (DOC Grad) > > My son has been in his DOC band for 7 1/2 weeks and has only grown 5mm. The > past 4 , and has not grown at all. Guest guest
Lia, How old is ? The growth rate slows with age. You still have at least 6 1/2 more weeks to go in that band for changes to come about, so don't give up hope. There are some babies even young ones that just simply grow very slowly and that can complicate the correction process, but it is still worth keeping that band on because all you have to do is catch one growth spurt for change to occur. You would just kick yourself if it was off and that happened. Every little bit of correction makes a difference in headshape.
