I'm one of the " lucky " ones doing LID for thanksgiving - I'm

scheduled to get locked away for RAI next Tuesday, assuming the TSH

came back okay...

I was surprised that i was able to make so much food work out -

thanks so much to whoever came up with the milk-less cornbread

recipe in the archives - i used that as a basis for my

dressing/stuffing. besides the corbread and dressing, we had

turkey, sweet potato casserole, green beans, cranberry sauce. my

other half had the bottled iodine-laden gravy; i had to keep

reminding myself it was NOT alright to lick that spoon... Plus the

fact that the wine we had with dinner affected me much more due to

hyponess :) but i have to admit, i have not had the problems

with " hypo hell " that i have in the past - my aches and pains

haven't been nearly as bad; i can take care of them with a couple

advil and i've been able to walk okay. i've just been sleeping a

lot more. i also felt better once i was off the cytomel. i'm still

feeling a bit " cheated " that i had to spend an extra week off the

meds because of the holiday - i KNEW that they would never schedule

me to go on in on thanksgiving weekend but i didn't open my mouth

when i should have at the beginning... so instead of just getting

out now like i should have, i still have yet to go in.

i'm still upset that when i called the hospital for instructions

about what i could bring or not bring (the doctor's office was

strangely clueless and could tell me nothing) the person i talked to

was pretty unsympathetic... he agreed that i probably couldn't bring

anything back out, and he acted like it was strange of me to even

ask what i could bring - as if, what could i possibly need? i asked

if they provided anything other than a TV and he said no. he

said " we give you a gown to wear " . oh, joy.

i've gotten some good suggestions from friends - like visiting the

dollar store beforehand and buying some " junk " type items to " play "

with. i'm thinking of some origami paper too; think they'd mind if

i filled the room with radioactive paper birds? oh well,

Shari in FL T -4 days and counting...
