Guest guest
Hi everyone, Jake is going for his first week's checkup tomorrow at Cranial Tech. He's done really well but I have been noticing when I take the helmet off for his bath, he has two bad red marks that seem a bit swollen. It takes longer than an hour to fade - about an hour and a half. Then I put the helmet back on and check him first thing in the morning and he seems fine. Do you think the helmet is being moved around too much by other children at the sitter's? Is this dangerous or does he just need an adjustment? He also woke up last night crying and I was tempted to take it off but felt guilty. I am feeling kind of torn up about it - he is doing well but it seems like a very long stretch to get through. I guess the good news is I went to the supermarket and he got just as much attention as he usually did - people stopped and called him adorable. I also received intelligent questions about the helmet. Not that I mind any inquiry - the funny stares bother me more. Thanks for the advice. Will let you know how tomorrow goes. Guest guest
Hi Becky, Thanks so much for checking up on me. I am so relieved. We took Jake for his one week check up and already there is a slight roundness taking place at the back of his lower head. The red marks had faded - he slept in it the whole night and I didn't take the helmet off until I got to CT and the bumps were fine. She took a look at his skin and said there was some normal fluid build up by the ears, and that as long as the marks are fading not to worry. She adjusted it and now the helmet is slipping down a bit but I think that's because he won't go back for another two weeks and he needs the growth room. I am feeling more upbeat after our visit. I have my ups and downs - sometimes four months seem like forever, and at other times I feel lucky that it is not more serious and try to be very positive. He's sleeping soundly now. Will keep you posted! My thoughts are with everyone and their precious children through the ups and downs in this journey. Guest guest
If it doesn't go away in an hour an adjustment is needed. Do you go to the Hanger in Leawood? We went to the Hanger in Independence. Angie and Jenna red marks Zachary has been in his Hanger helmet for 2 weeks now and we have had one adjustment. He was getting a red mark on his forehead and cheek before and now we are still getting a red mark on forehead. I have been putting eucerin cream on it on his off hour but my question is, Are any red marks normal? It does not go away after any length of time. Yesterday i left the helmet off most of the day to see and it didnt go away. I am so afraid of the marks turning into sores, but so far it is just a mark. Thanks.Kimi mom to zachary 6 months plagio/tort

Guest guest
Hi Lexie, the red marks should fade. the concern is not " weird shape " it is that the skin will get more irritated and break down (open sores - yuck) and need time to heal before the band can go back on. it okay if they fade quite a bit, but if they stay red you should go in for an adjustment. also they shouldn't be getting worse. sometimes it takes a few extra adjustments in the beginning before the fit is right. -christine mom to sydney/ 14 mo/ starband grad 10-06 > > > > Zachary has been in his Hanger helmet for 2 weeks now and we have had > > one adjustment. Guest guest
Red marks that don't fade are a concern. They should also be fading quicker with each check. You will see red marks the entire banding process. You just don't want red marks to turn into sores. Your daughter should still be able to hold her head up with no problem. lisa 9 month old son doc bandlexie francis <lonlygoth@...> wrote: hey everyone, my daughter cheyenne is on her second day, and they said to do skin test. to put it on 3 hours and take it off when the red marks go away. she has a few red marks and they went away. then the next day she wore it over night and it took em longer to go away. are the red marks make her head weird shaped if we still use the helmet. im confused i wait till they fade. she doesn't like pick her head all the way up. does anyone know any good positions, i can position her. i try to hold her alot now. is it normal for her not to want to pick her head up when she is on her tummy with it on. she acts like its heavy when she is up also. i guess she has to get use to it. anyone have any tips please email me. thanks alot, lexie, joey, joey, and, cheyenne doc band I would say an adjustment was needed. my daughter had brachy (flat inback) and her forehead was the first place to get red when she neededan adjustment-christinemom to sydney/ 14 mo/ starband grad 10-06>> Zachary has been in his Hanger helmet for 2 weeks now and we have had > one adjustment. Guest guest
Hi Angie, We are in Wichita and there is only one Hanger here and only one girl who does the helmets so it is hard to get in. I called and we see her on Friday so hopefully we can get it to fit right. I dont feel like we have done one full day yet. I hope we dont have to do adjustments like this often. Guest guest
I hope Friday they can get the fit right. It took a few adjustments in the beginning for Jenna's band to fit good. After that we went in every 3 weeks. Let us know how it goes. Angie and jenna red marks> > > Zachary has been in his Hanger helmet for 2 weeks now and we have had > one adjustment.
