Guest guest
Let's go into a little bit of EMS past. Ft.Worth, 1980. They selected EMS as their 911 provider. Yes they got a subsidy. In around 1983-84, they noticed that 911 wasn't paying all the bills. So, they decided to staff one BLS transfer unit in order to get into the transfer market. At this time there were at least four other services that had been established for several years doing transfers. You don't need to be a Phd to see where this left . I think that unit lasted around a month and was dropped. At the end of their contract was when the PUM was established and MedStar was created as a full service, 911 and transfer system. There were probably other things that caused the demise of , but this is an example of trying to do 911 only without the extra kick from the non-emergency calls.
