Whether nursing or not will prevent you from TTC varies from person to

person, but if you are going to wean you need to do it gradually or you will

experience the discomfort you wrote about in your post on Saturday. IMO, it

sounds like the night time nursings are wearing you out, so you could try to

drop to just daytimes.

Some moms choose that nights will be no nursing times by talking about

num-nums going night-night with the sun and the child can't nurse again

until the sun comes up. This might mean that you would nurse at bedtime,

then say night-night to num-nums, and finally you change to clothes that

won't allow your son access to nursing until at sunrise. You may have to

resort to other ways of comforting your child through the

night--co-sleeping, rocking, etc. A long nightgown with no nursing access

will also help at this point. You will also find your child awakening with

the first ray of sun to nurse (most likely).

If you do go for no nursing at night, then don't try weaning in the day time

for a while (like 1-2 weeks, so that your milk supply can adjust.) You may

also find that you leak a lot in the mornings for a while.

Weaning is a difficult decision, and it is best done with time and love and

caring.
