Guest guest
There should definitly be an intermediate involved somewhere in the new scope of practice, someone to assist the paramedic in the more invasive aspects of patient care, sometimes there are multiple procedures to be done at once that may take even experienced paramedics time to do. Also there should be a minimum amount of time spent at each level before moving to the next level. It gives the provider time to become proficient at his/her skill level before moving on. Too many times I have seen paramedics that have gone " straight through " not be proficient with things as easy as IV access. Not to mention improper treatments or inadequate care because of lack of experience. Troy Irvine Firefighter/Tactical Paramedic Port Arthur Fire Dept.
