Guest guest Posted August 27, 2005 Report Share Posted August 27, 2005 Kathy, I am sending these photos so you especailly can see what a thrill it is soemtimes to go on a ride. I hope they come through. These are photos of a ride we go on every year. It is called the RIDE FOR KID and it is to sipport the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. It costs $35.00 per bike to ride and every penny goes to the Foundation. The photo of the gentleman with me is from Beaumont and he and his wife are good friends of and I. The other picture is of the bikes going over the Fred Hartman Bridge. There were about over 800 bikes in that ride. IT WAS SO COOL!! Everyone that rode was in a chapter and each chapter raised money to give to the Foundation and there was well over $200,000.00 raised!!! Anyways we do a lot of charity work for oragnizations such as this. So get that Harley and join it. You will have a blast. Also one of our rallies was held at the Grapevine Resort and it is soooooooooo cool. I loved that place. The Grapevine Mall is pretty neat also. I sent george pics and he sent them to the loop... the pool is an outside heated pool.....the lady said they are remodoling all the rooms so by the time we go to srd everything will be new and up to date...she was real nice to take me and hubby up to see one of the rooms...the room she showed us was an oversized room that are at the end of the halls,,But she said the rooms are like that but just not as wide from the beds to the other wall,,, anyway its a nice hotel... we are planning to go back and this time stay the night at that hotel... we went to the texas speedway where nascar races and we were gonna take the tour but we got there to late, so I want to go back and take that tour...we are planning on going to the nascar race in november in dallas... srd is going to be nice all under one roof this year see ya later kathy.. It can sometimes sabatoge my weight if I am not careful though. They eat a lot. Nearly everything we do revolves around food functions. Its all good though! We have a couple members of our chapter that owns a Harley also. When you all get a bike let me know and you can meet up with us and ride with our chapter. We have a lot of fun rides. We have the Toy Run every December. The directors of the chapters go to the shelters of battered and abused families and we adopt kids to buy them thier "dream" gift for Christmas. There are hundreds of names and each members takes as many as they can afford. We usually try and take 3 because they like for you to spend at least $30.00 on each child you adopt. We all dress up as Elves and delievery the gifts to the Marriot Hotel and have a party with the abused children. You should see in his elf suit!!!! He is the biggest elf there!!!! It is such a wonderful feeling knowing you are helping a child to have a happy time after so much saddness. You can even go to the Toy Run in a car if you want as a guest of ours.
