That's not a synthetic product, it's natural... I've been on it for over two years. Don't tell the doc that.. .if he's against natural thyroid he'll pull you off it. I've written to the company and confirmed that is it natural desiccated porcine thyroid......

Look at the front of the label... is the weight in mg and grains, like: 130 mg (2 grain)

or is it in mcg, like 100 mcg.

Let me know what your label says... I have pics of the natural tabs too if you'd like me to send them so that you can confirm what you have. They also have them posted on the Time Caps web site http://www.timecaplabs.com/rx.html you can see the pics there, with the imprints on the tabs.

A synthetic product will list the ingredients as Levothyroixine Sodium.... A natural product with list it as simply Levothyroxine.. there is no sodium.

Another clue is a synthetic product is the same size tab, regardless of the dose, a natural product has larger pills for larger doses.

My doc suggested I try using a thyroid substitute that contains Levothyroxine and liothyonine in approximately the same proportions as the T4 and T3 in armour. It's called Thyroid and it's made by Time Cap Labs. Anybody have any experience with this? It's much less expensive than Armour thyroid, but if it's not effective, I'm not interested. Thanks, Dixie

I went through this myself when I started on Time Caps... they list on the bottle how much T4 and T3 is in it by name, Levothyroxine and Liothyronine. I was told in another group that that meant it was made up of synthetic...so I went looking and couldn't find anything other than synthetics always have sodium included as part of the name of the hormones and the weights are dosage are listed differently... so I wrote to Time Caps... had a couple of weeks of emails back and forth with the rep, who ended up asking if he could give out our web address to folks that contact them about thyroid hormones and dosing and brands and such. I was told not to advertise for them on the site or anything.... just if the site could be available for those that wanted to learn more and find support.... They really aren't set up for that type of education stuff there and he tried, but just doesn't know what it's like..... Really, really nice folks there.

I'm hoping to stay on Time Caps, to avoid a brand change and having to readjust... but right now there are no sources available that don't require prescription. I've used both the 2 grain and 3 grain sizes. If anyone spots a source, let me know... I had been getting them from Mexico.. but one site is closed down and the 'corner pharmacies' last I heard were not carrying natural, only synthetic.

I have heard from gals that have tried both Time Caps and Armour that Armour is sweeter.. it contains dextrose, Time Caps doesn't.

I'll post the ingredient lists of meds again so that everybody can wander through....

I hope you don't get wrecked computers. Sheesh. Not fun

The Connecticut river out my back door has overflown its banks. No biggee yet. The folks in New Hampshire have it worse.
