This is not a side effect I've experienced, and I HAVE had pancreatitis

after ERCPs. You need to discuss this with your Dr. right away. This does

sound like UC - please don't delay.

Hi Arne,

Thank you for the information again. You have really helped in a couple of cases with my situation.

If I do have UC do you think it is okay to take Imodium A-D to help with this?

I cannot get a hold of my doctor until Monday morning.

Hi Arne,

I am going to wait until tonight or tomorrow if i do not feel any better and go to the emergency room of the hospital.

i am going to take this paperwork with me along with all of my other paperwork and explain to them what i think i have and see what they can and will do for me if conditions get any worse.

i am going to try and tough it out for right now.

thank you again for your help and concern.

I don't want to frighten you, but there is a complication of inflammatorybowel disease called toxic megacolon (seehttp://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000248.htm). This is notvery common, and is more typically seen in those with long-standing UC orCrohns. Sepsis is another complication that can go along with it(essentially, an overwhelming infection of the blood stream by toxinproducing bacteria). The problem with Imodium A-D is that it may mask moreserious symptoms, and does not help a bacterial infection whatsoever. The above referenced website states "Go to the emergency room or call thelocal emergency number (such as 911) if severe abdominal pain develops --particularly if it is accompanied by fever, rapid heart rate, tendernesswhen the abdomen is pressed, bloody diarrhea, frequent diarrhea, or painfulbowel movements."That being said, when I was first diagnosed with UC (1977), I went about aweek before seeking medical assistance. Is there an urgent care facility nearby, or do you have access to aNurseLine through your insurance?Arne55 - UC 1977, PSC 2000Alive and (mostly) well in Minnesota________________________________From: [mailto: ] OnBehalf Of Dave CaitoHi Arne,Thank you for the information again. Hi Arne and everyone else,

I called the doctor today on call and told them of my symptoms and they think I have a bacteria infection.

they called in Flagyl for me and taking 3-500mg pills a day for 7 days. I will see if this works first before going though more tests etc..

they do not think that I have UC or toxic megacolon with my symptoms. I hope that they are right.

thank you for the advice and being there for me. I will keep you posted on my results.
