Guest guest
The genes associated with autoimmune diseases predispose you to develop the disease - other factor (stress, viral infections etc...) are believed to trigger the development of the disease in those predisposed. These genes don't act in the dominant/recessive way, just one gene from either parent can cause you to develop the disease. My 9 year old got the gene for type 1 diabetes from my husband, yet he is the only one in the family to ever develop the disease. Why some people with the gene never develop diseases associated with them is a hot area of research now. His thyroid problem and celiac come from my side of the family tree. Guess the kid got a bum draw from the gene pool. Kerri Yahoo! Photos – Showcase holiday pictures in hardcover Photo Books. You design it and we’ll bind it!
