Hi Tonia,

I certainly know how you're feeling. I'm almost 11 weeks post-op and

was wired shut w/a splint for the first 5 weeks and had the internal

wires removed at week 7. I'm currently wearing elastic bands, but

that may change today as I have an ortho appointment this morning.

Since I'm a picky eater, having blended foods didn't appeal to me, so

I lived on Ensure, high protein/high calorie/low carb shake mix (from

GNC - health food store), and vanilla ice cream/orange juice shakes.

I found the high protein/high calorie shake was very filling and with

the Ensure, I had to develop a taste for it. In fact, due to that I

had TMJ arthroplasty in July '02, I've been living on Ensure since

then.

I know right now you probably feel like all you're going through is

never going to end, but I amongst others who have been there will

tell you it does.

Take it one day at a time. I hope it gets easier for you.
