Lets talk Grain Mills

My friend uses the Family Grain Mill avaiable on Pleasant Hill Grains

website. It is a hand mill that has an adapter for her Bosch. It

comes for a Kitchenaid as well. I know my friend has had hers a long

time without any issues, so it seems to be to be a good mill.

I saw 1 review that the Kitchenaid grain mill was not so great... But

it is made of metal where as the FGM is plastic (metal inside).

What have you used? What were the pros and cons? If you were to buy

another mill what would you buy and why?

I'm really looking for something that I can do by hand and also with

my KA -- the FGM does that and that is why my friend bought hers. She

said it was the hippy in her wanting not to depend on electricity!

She lives up in the mountains where they do loose electric every

winter and her stove is basic gas, so she could make bread even with

no electric. I'm not so lucky, so maybe there will be a good reason

out there not to worry about the hand milling capability.
