Guest guest
I'm new to the list and recently diagnosed with FMS, although the more I read about it, I find I've had it a long time. I have been on vioxx for the past three months and it has given me great relief. However, I recently found this article. http://www.arthritis.org/Resources/DisplayScreamingNews.asp?id=160 Now I'm afraid to take it. I've had terrible heart palpitations since taking it but never put the two together. One another note, I had a terrible time getting my Dr. to take me seriously until I took my husband in with me. He was able to explain what is going on a little better and if your Dr. is a man, I find men can get the point across to other men easier. Who knows why. My Dr is now more cooperative and less likely to give me flack. Lately he gives me whatever I tell him I need. Strange. ~Annette Hall Citrus Heights, CA -----Original Message----- From: persephene I can relate. My pain is getting worse every day and what did the Rheumy tell me? " There is nothing better for Fibromyalgia or Arthritis than Vioxx. That will take care of any pain you might have. " In a pig's eye! I'm taking the Vioxx every day and taking 750 mg of Salsalate almost every day for breakthough pain, against the Rheumy's advice and nothing is fazing it. {{{Hugs}}} Jacqui

Guest guest
After 28 years with fibro, I can't believe a doctor would tell you Vioxx would take care of it. It won't even touch it. It's for arthritis! What a jerk. Guest guest
My PCP told me the same thing about Vioxx. Told me that there was NO PAIN that Vioxx couldn't take care of. When I argued with her about it, she told me that I just wanted the " high " from the pain killers and suggested strongly that I check myself into detox! I tried the Vioxx - it didn't touch the pain, within 3 days I was having severe stomach pain, and within five days I was throwing up blood. I wouldn't touch one of the new NSAIDS with a 10' pole again! When I finally got in to see the pain clinic doc (after 3 weeks on no pain meds at all) he just shook his head when I told him about the Vioxx and said that he sees the same thing every day - the drug companies have brainwashed the doctors into thinking the Celebrex and Vioxx can take care of anything and so they're prescribing it like candy :-( And of course we all know that narcotics are evil and addictive...<sigh>. He put me on methadone 2x a day, along with baclofen for muscle spasms, and I haven't felt this good in 10 years. Find yourself a different doctor!! (it took me 15 years to find this one) - At 10:44 AM 10/9/01 -0700, you wrote: >After 28 years with fibro, I can't believe a >doctor would tell you Vioxx would take care of >it.
