Guest guest
Hi All, Well, I went to my follow up appt. with the new rheumy, and I think he is definitely a keeper! He is kind, understanding, and patient, and is not at all averse to treating my pain while we try to figure out what the heck I have. He hasn't ruled out FMS, but my blood titers for rheumatic factor were sky high, though I don't have the localized joint tenderness and swelling, etc., so even that is atypical. Figures. He wants to do a bone scan next and see where that goes. I guess it would sound weird to anyone without chronic pain, but it is so gratifying to attach a name to the pain, not so much for me, but for everyone else, its like validation for your invisible torment to be able to call it something, or even a possible something! Even my husband has done a turn-around in his behavior toward me, pathetic but true. Before he was tolerant most times, but I always felt he thought I was being a wuss or malingering, he acted annoyed when I didn't want to go out and " do things " . Now he is being very helpful and understanding, a small miracle. He even got off the soap box about narcotics since he's seen how much relief I have, and how much better my mood is. When the pain goes from a nine to a five, those are four HUGE points, and it shows! So lets see, my string of acronyms is growing...CP OA IBS PVC's PMS FMS MPS RA M & M's... (hey, ya gotta get something good in there!) And so is my pharmacy... Inderal, Celexa, Flexeril, Vicoprofen, Ativan, Donnatal... isn't it fun! NOT! Thank goodness for insurance. Speaking of insurance... the only negative to the day was the pharmacy... he wrote me a prescription for 120 Vicoprofen and the darn pharmacy said they can only give out 50 for 30 days max! Do any of you have this problem, and if so, what do you do about it? I'm not sure if it is the pharmacy policy, or the insurance... IF i can get the rest, they get a $35.00 co-pay for each of 3 refills instead of 1? Hmmmm. Not cool. Any advice? I just wanted to share my good news after all the doors that were slammed in my face up until now, I know you can all relate. My pain has " official " recognition, but the big miracle is that he is less than 15 minutes from my house, he accepts our insurance, and he is a GOOD doctor! It took forever, but I think I finally got my man! Take care and have a painless day! Char in CT (Oh, by the way, I was hoping that instead of just hitting reply when responding to postings with lots of text, we could highlight the pertinent passage(s) and then hit reply...most mail programs will do this, cutting out all the extraneous text. Its just good netiqette and is especially annoying when you get the digest version of this group and sometimes have to scroll through endless quoting to get to the post beneath it.)
