My understanding is you need healthy adrenal function to produce ceruloplasmin (this is the protein that binds copper in the blood and allows your body to move it out of storage and out of the body). If your adrenal function is low then you won't have enough ceruloplasmin and your copper will not be mobilized and will remain in the body. I don't think you want excess cortisol either, just healthy, balanced cortisol. > Also, a friend advised me to take breaks on it - not to take it > every day. If you take a replacement dose, this is supposed to suppress your own adrenal function and you will need to take it everyday. -- > What do you guys think? > > thanks, > Val >
Guest guest
> Just read on curezone that HC may cause retention of copper? According the Amalgam Illness, bottom of pg 99, cortisol lowers copper. In my personal experience, HC has no effect so far. I started 20 mg HC in June. In early August, my hair test showed 120 for copper. (Hair tests reflect what was going on a month or two before.) In early October, my hair test for copper was exactly the same. W. Guest guest
Thanks, . You really know your stuff. Your post awhile back about my adrenals being a concern was dead-on. At the time I read it, I was thinking oh no, I have enough problems with mercury/copper. But now I realize from reading here, that getting my hormones adrenal/thyroid working is a huge step in getting better. Then, I'll focus on chelation. Right now, I feel as if I want to collapse. Some unbelievable work stress hit me recently out of the blue, and I'm at my lowest point ever. It's amazing I am still showing up for work. Zinc, B6,diet, etc..? Yes. For over a year, I've done the copper elimination diet, no copper in supplements, over 200mg zinc/day in divided doses, 500-1,000mcg of molybdenum, milk thistle, glycine, taurine and phosphatidylcholine with each meal. U haven't done particularly high amounts of B6. I had my water tested for copper. I haven't found any way to bring it down. I had been chelating with ALA according to the guidelines for people with high copper in Hair Test Interpretation. I've decided to use only DMSA for a few months to see if that helps. During that time, I'll do everything I can to help my adrenals, thyroid and liver. If that doesn't bring it down the only possibilities left at that point will be trying to find bile duct obstruction or trying to get a doctor to prescribe trientine hydrochloride. > Also, have you noticed any health improvements on HC? Yes. I think I could not have tolerated Armour without it. I have much less fatigue and joint pain than I did prior to starting them in June. I think I am more mentally with it, too. W. I can't get my copper levels fully down no matter what I do!!!!! Andy Cutler claims mercury is what causes this copper/zinc imbalance and chelation is the only thing that is going to cure it really. It felt like I amost eliminated copper after the 5th round of chelation but my copper levels quickly went back up and hasn't gone down since. Chromium definitely reduces copper but still doesn't cure it and seems to make my connective tissure problems worse, along with my mood problems. I seriously losing my mind over this. Guest guest
This type of thinking sounds an off shoot from those that think HC supplementation will cause permanent reliance on steroids. Low level physiologic doses will not permanently suppress the adrenals. In fact, if you skip a day, you can almost be defeating the purpose of letting your adrenals rest and regain strength. This skipping a day can act as an added stress to your body, thereby not helping the adrenals to heal. ~Inga > > Also, a friend advised me to take breaks on it - not to take it > > every day. > > If you take a replacement dose, this is supposed to suppress your > own adrenal function and you will need to take it everyday. Guest guest
thanks, Ingrid. I was thinking that too. I guess my source was mistaken.
