Lyndi,

I get those same sounds and feelings in my head especially when I turn it. I

do get migraines so I don't know if it is from that or what because when I

have those things it isn't always when a migraine is going on.....

< Do any of you get squishy noises and clunk sounds when you turn or nod

your head? I think whatever is causing my headaches to be so bad, is tied

into this. I'd like to know if anyone else has found an even semi

successful treatment. >>

Lyndi,

I do but I have not got the foggiest idea what causes them. I do have

arthritis very badly in my neck and I have very limited motion there also.

Take care,

I have what I call 'crunchy' noises in my neck...and yes, I have

horrible headaches most of the time. That is why the doctor originally

did a preliminary diagnosis of fibromyalgia. I have found that I MUST

get to bed AND sleep by 9:30 each night (getting actual sleep is the

trick). That makes my headache better. I have noticed though that any

'over exertion' one day makes the headache worse the net.

I am also having therapeutic massages weekly. I can't tell you whether

or not this helps because I've just started. I use hot packs/cold

packs alternating every 15 minutes on my neck & shoulder areas. This

does seem to help some.

I am going to a new rheumatoglogist on Tuesday and I'm going to ask him about

it. The squishy noises and clunks are there all the time, so I'm glad that I

don't have a migraine constantly. My head aches all the time, but the throwing

up, knock down, drag out headaches " only " happen a couple of days a week.

I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!!

I don't sleep well. (even if I take drugs) And when I do get to sleep, I wake

up several times during the night to switch pillows. I've got a stack of

various sizes, shapes, and materials piled beside the bed.

I hope the new rheumy I'm seeing this week lives up to his 'brilliant'

reputation.

I get those, and it's usually a signal that I need to get back to my

chiropractor for an adjustment, get those vertebrae back in line where

they belong. I find that my neck, even my entire spine, becomes

maladjusted a lot of times when I've been tense (tight muscles pulling).

Tension also brings on migraines for me. Now that my thyroid is

pharmaceutically straightened out and it's no longer causing the

migraines, tension is one of the remaining clear triggers.

I grew up in a chiropractic family - Gramma graduated from Palmer

Chiropractic in 1928 and practiced for many years alongside her husband -

and I realize that others' opinions may vary. ;-)

I have grinding noises in my neck and also get horrible right side

headaches. Have been to chiro but he can't pop it. I can pop it

myself sometimes and that seems to help a little.

If I hurt real bad I use ice and heat. Klonopin helped a few

months ago and was headache free for a little while but it isn't

helping this go round.

I'm thinking of asking doc for muscle relaxer as my neck feels so

tight sometimes.

I as surprised when I moved to the US last year and learned that chiropractors

don't get much recognition in the medical community.

I loved my chiropractor. My family doctor sent me to him. My spine is/was quite

damaged and the chiro kept me going for about 10 years. Because my fibro always

had me in knots, he used massage first before he even attempted any kind of

adjustments. But the day came when both my doc and my chiropractor told me that

it was time for surgery, not chiropractic treatments. After the surgery, my

chiropractor and his partner both looked at all the x-rays the orthopaedic

surgeon had taken and told me that I was no longer a candidate for any kind of

spinal adjustments. That they would do be more harm than good.

It was great while it lasted :-)

When I turn my head in the left direction (or up and down to the left) I

can hear a sound that is kind of a clunk or grinding sound. I don't get

it when I turn towards the right. It's made me wonder if some cartilage

is worn away some where.

I posted earlier and said I got the same feeling and sounds from my neck and

head and what I forgot to say is that I had cortisone injections in my neck

and back of the head, which by the way I wasn't to thrilled to be getting but

anyway it seems to me that it helped my neck I would say 90% not only with

the crunching and squishy sounds but with the horrible pain I was having. I

couldn't bear the pain anymore but I feel like a new person as far as my neck

goes! It also seems to me that when reading all the posts that almost

everyone who responded to your question Lyndi said that they get migraines so

there must be a connection I would think!

I don't know if I would count, I've had a cervical spinal fusion. I hear

crunching and popping sounds all the time. Heard them before the surgery

too. My disc's degenerated enough to come out into my spinal column and was

crushing my spinal cord! I think just about everyone hear's " noises " in

their neck.

I've been quizzing my normie friends and family - none of them have squishy

noises in their necks. Although there are a couple of clunkheads :-)
