,

I am not sure if anyone else has answered this - I am on digest - but here

are my suggestions:

> - Thermometer (100-220 degree range)

I bought meat thermometers at a kitchen shop. Some have used candy

thermometer, but thought on those is that they didn't seem to go below 100

degrees - the meat thermometers I found went down to around 60 so they work

for me.

> - Goggles

Buy these at any hardware store - not anything real special.

> - Rubber spatulas

I bought a very large spatula for scraping the pot after pouring at a

restaurant supply place. I have used a stainless steel spoon for mixing the

lye water and a wooden spoon for mixing the oils and the lye/water together

- may go to another stainless steel on this one though.

> - Mixing bowls/pitchers

I have a very large pyrex measuring cup that I use for mixing the lye/water

solution in. Since it is a measuring pitcher - it has the spout. I have a

tupperware container that I weigh out the lye in - but it's just for

weighing the lye. Then I have a big stainless steel pot for mixing the oils

and the lye/water mixture in. I think mine is a 16 qt pot - I bought it for

around $20 - places like wal-mart will be a good place to find some or all

of these items.
