Guest guest
Hi again! Thanks for the responses to my previous message. I forgot my name last time, its . I had surgery last Wednesday, came home Thursday and basically have been in bed since. Whenever I am up for more than 15 minutes, I start getting a headache, I feel dizzy and need to lay down. Is this normal after thyroid surgery? Is it the cytomel they have me taking? I know its not the painkiller because I was silly and didn't take it for 48 hours to see it it was the cause. Its not and I am finally getting comfortable again? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Guest guest
Hi , I had surgery 11/18. I started having headaches when I came home from the hospital (thought they took a baseball bat to the back of my head!). I started out taking three cytomels/day - this lasted two days. Then I thought it was the Cytomel giving me the headaches, so I reduced it to two/day, then one/day. The headaches starting going away (I was taking Motrin for the pain, which also helped a great deal), but come to find out it wasn't the Cytomel afterall that was causing the headaches, it was the lack of Cytomel and the timing with the surgery. I was still feeling the affects of the anesthesia a week after surgery - hence the headaches. I was continuing with headaches when I reduced my Cytomel to one per day. Talked to my surgeon about this and he agreed. It was his belief that I was feeling the headaches because I was going " hypo " from a lack of Cytomel (when I was doing one a day). I needed to be on two Cytomel a day, and being two weeks out of surgery, my headaches are relatively gone. Hope this makes sense to you and helps you out. Take care - be well.
