Guest guest
Thank you Maureen for your reply, i didn't know that a transplanted kidney is placed on the right side. The main worry for me is sleeping, I wonder how much discomfort there is sleeping on it, I imagine the tube itself isn't much but there is a hard cap on it, I guess that would be like sleeping on a small stone, still I'll soon find out Mark mo_hep wrote: --- Hello Mark, I'm new to this group and not yet on dialysis. However, at my transplant evaluation visit, I asked whereabouts does the 'new' kidney fit in. When told the right side, I then asked about the best site for the canula and was told the left side. I expect the exact postion will depend on where it will least annoy you ?? I don't know if it will make any difference if you are left or right-handed...ie for ease of handling...or on what side you tend to sleep ??? All those questions ???? Good Luck with the decision ! Guest guest
Hi Mark First of all, good luck for Monday. Re: transplanted kidney, I don't know if that is true for every transplanted kidney but that is the info that I was given. I have chosen overnight peritoneal dialysis so there will be a tube attached to the catheter. Sounds like something you just have to get used to ? I'm sure the experts will position it for maximum ease and comfort. Re: prevention of infection, I have been given a booklet called 'the peritoneal dialysis companion'....gives hints and tips like 'keep your exit site clean and catheter taped securely' ! I'll be interested to hear how everything goes. Best wishes, Maureen. > --- > Hello Mark, > I'm new to this group and not yet on dialysis.
