Guest guest
{{{Kim}}} You're still a newbie at the diet and 2 1/2 weeks is not that long when you consider how long you've been eating all the other stuff. Not to mention the hidden gluten in so many products not limited to just foods (even after a year I'm still finding things I didn't know had gluten like wall paper paste). Even when you think you have it down someone changes something-- like the new ingredients in a favorite product. Or the kids leave gluten bread crumbs on the counter or table or accidently use your strainer for reg. pasta. It's somewhat harder to stay GF in a mixed house (I know cause I'm the only celiac here too). You'll get the hang of it for the most part, it just takes time. Keep at it and ask questions and stay in touch with all those who are supportive (such as this group), family and friends who take the time to listen and learn about the disease with you, etc. And don't forget even as you go off gluten and your body is healing you will probably feel stomach pains, develop a reaction to lactose, and may even feel your normal symptons a bit stronger when you do get glutened. Just don't give up!! :-) in VA Aggravation! UGHHH...I am so aggravated! I have been trying to be GF for 2 1/2 weeks now! Just when I think I'm doing everything right...something sneaks in on me! I don't get it. It's those days that I feel that I tried especially hard to make sure I've eaten everything right that I get sick. I'll start getting a sore in my mouth or get so sick to my stomach that I can't stand it. I am the only celiac in my family..so far (household). It's so difficult for me to keep everything out of my house. I even bought a seperate toaster for myself. I have marked everything that is mine and have threatned everyone in the house with death if they cross contaminate my new toaster! I make my own salad dressing and marinade. Because of my anemia, I know it will take me awhile to get to feeling really better..but I thought I was on the right track. I don't get AS tired. If anyone can give me some good advice or just a pat on the shoulder, I would really appreciate it. I'm back to feeling alone in all of this! Trying to keep smiling!Kim
