Guest guest
ok..update..i guess..im 16 year old with a frickin class iii underbite- grew while growth spurt 8th grade...anyways..my dad finally got serious bout checking bout surgery and what they would do..so i finally got an appointment with a orthodontist and an oral surgeon clinic- they said that i would need first to have my four molar teeth or whatever they are called taken out- and that needs to heal..then frickin 6 more months of braces pre op, and then surgery- most likely top- forward and down, bottom pulled in..and then 6 more month post op braces..but our orthodontist was slightly apprehensive about me (a 16 year old turning 17 this year in september) having surgery at such a young age (probably next summer- 17- almost 18- and the risks that i would outgrow the stupid surgery..and then we went to the oral surgeon..and he was very apprehensive- said it wasnt a good idea..that even if we took x rays of my wrist..to looks for closed plates..and had a xray of my jaw taken now, and then 6 months later..to see if my jaw had moved in 6 months..that even if those " indicators " indicated that i wasnt growing at least vertically..that theres STILL a 10-15 percent chance that i would still grow..perhaps even in later yeras of college...but i am very anxious to having this surgery..for so many reasons..i want this surgery as soon as possible..but i feel like i wont grow more..and dont exactly understand why if i do grow..why would it be 100 percent sure that my jaw would grow too? doesnt cutting ur jaw hinder it from growing again? ...so i guess.then we talked to the insurance lady..and we are currently trying to figure out if my dads anthem insurance covers orthag. surgery- but prolly not..and the costs- and WOW WAS I SURPRISED- her estimates- 25,000! for two-three hospital stay- what the heck? and then 6-8,000 fot orhtag. surgery..plus or rooms cost..and anesthesiologist..wow this is gonna be liek a frticiin 30-40,000 surgery..when i thought it would only be like 10,000..oh yeah and a year of braces! 5,000! thats ridiculous-at least according to my dad- cuz i previously had about 2-3 yeras of braces (my teeth are perfectly straight, its just my retarded jaw...) and he was paying 180 a month..but this stupid guy wants 400 a month! just for spending 10 minutes a month adjusting stupid wires in my mouth! wow amazing...yeah so my dad i think is thinking that if we go to a bigger city (indianapolis)..where there is more competition..that the charges will be lower- both for the braces..and for the hospital charge..have anybody here gone to a city for surgery to save money? is it significant? indy is only bout an hour from where i live..so its not that bad... so i guess im amazed..a surgery that i was hoping to have this summer..might end up not happening till AFTER my oh so important senior year..and my high school career will be ruined forever..i so want this surgery..but im not so sure i or my family or the stupid surgeons want to risk having my surgery too early..i guess we will have to see...
