Guest guest
Hi , What does Tom say? I'm not sure I understand enough about this to comment. Are you saying that you could be spending a lot of money for in vitro that may not be able to work because your ovarian reserve might be low? And this test would tell you the status of your ovarian reserve? If this is the case, I would think you'd want to have the test done before anything and if it is low, see what can be done to improve this reserve first. I'd probably want to know more about this test and how it's done and see some studies on outcomes based on this procedure. Let us know if you have more details. Guest guest
Hi Elaine- Sigh! Tom doesn't know what to do either. Ovarian reserve could have changed in the 9 months from when I got tested but it might not have so if we cancel, we might be wasting time. But then again, I have never been normal since RAI. I wouldn't want to do another CCCT because I've been on Clomid already 6x (the risk of ovarian cancer goes up when you've been on it 7 months) but another day 2 or day 3 FSH and E2 could tell me something. I know I'm being whiney but why oh why couldn't anything ever be easy for me. Just one time. I want a break! For once I want a clear cut choice like other people I talk to about this have. Take care, > Hi , > What does Tom say? Guest guest
Hi , I talk to lots of people who have fertility problems after RAI so this problem might not be all that uncommon. You're young enough that you don't have to race against time, but if you feel the need to not waste time, you should go for it. Where in GA will you be going? I'll be in Atlanta over Memorial day. Guest guest
Hi Elaine- I definitely feel the need not to waste time. The Atlanta RE is a phone consult although I would love to go there. But considering how neurotic I am on landings (take-offs and flying are fun), I am avoiding going to anyplace I'd have to fly to. Ordinarily, I'd just force myself (I love New Orleans no matter how much I dread landings) but there's a relationship between achieving pregnancy and stress levels so I'm trying to reduce the stress. Guest guest
Well, I don't care anymore about the money although Tom does. It's certainly much cheaper than a house to have an assisted baby and much more rewarding. We've gone into debt to buy a house. If the money isn't an issue then I'd advise someone to go ahead. But we're struggling with it just the same. I guess the fear is that you put all those resources into having a baby and it might not work. We went into debt for the last IVF for nothing. But then again, the fertility specialist learned about how I work. I'm still leaning on trying. Love, > Hi , > I know so very little about what you are going through, there is no way to > advise you > > I do have a question for you though...if I were the one facing and going > through all that you have gone through with this, and I asked you what I > should do...what would you suggest to *me* to do? > > I know, this is hypothetical, but because I respect your opinion, I would > take the suggestion you give me...maybe giving me the advise I would be > seeking as you are, it will help you to come to a decision for yourself. > Love, > Jody
Guest guest
Hi I don't envy your decision one little bit. And I really don't have the medical knowledge to give you informed advise. I would like to say that since you have already started the cycle and the last time you did produce good viable eggs, if it where me I would continue. I know a few people who have had IVF (granted none who had RAI, so difficult to compare), but they had to have several goes at it. Not everyone is successful and for many the failure is unexplained. But for others there is success down the track. I agree with your later post - there's no comparison between going into debt for a house or a baby. We don't think twice about committing to a mortgage as long as the sums add up. But how much more is baby worth to us - infinite is my guess. I know you have make sure your sums add up. I only hope and pray that you can be one of those who are successful before the money runs out. Love Caroline
