Guest guest
Margaret, 4 weeks!?!?!? You must be miserable! I would first call the pharmacist to see what they recommend, however, if you can, try taking an oatmeal bath 2x per day, and use Benadryl (will make you drowsy), but they have topical Benadryl ointment that works wonders. If you don't have Benadryl, MOST antihistamines will help reduce the itching. Some people can be severely allergic to poison ivy, more than others, sounds like maybe that's your case? I would call the Dr. as well. I would think they could try other alternatives. I had a massive case of hives once (Penicillin reaction), that caused me to itch, and swell with huge welts, causing my throat to partially close...wound up at the hospital getting IV Benadryl for about 6 hours to help diminish the swelling, then continued with it for a few days. Also, try and stay cool, wear cotton only (no dyes in them), and if at all possible, stay in air conditioning, and/or fans blowing directly on you with some cool compresses beneath the folds. Keep the body clean, and DO NOT use deodorant soaps, still with the natural kinds (Oatmeal soap works best). Keep us posted! Dawn malabsorption? Hi All, I am looking for some help!! I have poison ivy. I am into my fourth week. It is all over my stomach, neck, and face. Unfortunately, it is also under my fat folds..... I have tried one ten day pregnizone(sp? Treatment). It helped, but as soon as I went off, the poison ivy got worse. My guess is the medicine wasn't absorbed as well as usual. Anybody gone through this, or have any suggestions?
