Kayleigh,

For what it is worth, I am more interesting in pursuing a lawsuit

than in debating Szasz.

Regarding requirements for treatment counselors, I believe it is

pretty up to the individual states. I have been in contact with

people in Indiana who got that state to enact a " truth and

responsiblity in psychological treatment " act--not the exact title

but something to that effect. Their group was started in reaction

to " Repressed Memory " psychologists. I had noticed that alcoholism

and drug abuse counselors were not included in their state bill,

although they were in the national model legislation. They informed

me that the reason was that a & da counselors were not licensed by the

state of Indiana.

I have seen a chart listing the requirments by state but could not

find it in my bookmarks. I'll keep my eyes open.

Indiana's counselors are certified, but probably by a private board.

The website you want is www.nttc.com/ It lists all the

states'certification requirements for AODA counselors. In Indiana, if

I remember correctly, AA/NA attendance can substitute for up to six

mos. of the education required for certification.

No, my concern was requirements for the centers themselves.
