Guest guest
There is a service in West Texas that has a protocol with Atropine as an additive for Acute Asthma. But,if I recall correctly,it is used in conjunction with 3cc Albutrol/.01 mg Atropine. --- Percy Spradlin wrote: > check with texas childrens hospital. i once had an > er doc give orders over the phone (can you believe > it?) for it. it seemed to really help, but i > understand it's mainly used in pedi patients. > > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Jazz up your holiday email with celebrity designs. > Learn more. > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > removed] > > __________________________________________________
Guest guest
We used to use atropine all the time until Atrovent came out. It complements the beta 2 effects of the beta agonists by its anticholinergic effects. You put 1.0 mg in with albuterol or a similar beta agonist. You can not repeat the atropine very often (every 4-6 hours) unlike the beta agonist that can be repeated or given continuously. BEB E. Guest guest
I hope you know in detail how Atrovent works if you are administering it. E. I understand the ipatropium has some atropine-like properties and effects. > > > check with texas childrens hospital. i once had an er doc give orders > > over the phone (can you believe > > it?) for it. it seemed to really help, but i understand it's mainly > > used in pedi patients. > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > Do you Yahoo!? > > Jazz up your holiday email with celebrity designs. > > Learn more. > > > >
Guest guest
, Why not expand your statement to include ALL drugs that are being administered by EMS? How many folks who are pushing any of the drugs in the standard EMS formulary can readily explain their mechanisms of action? Hope your Boxing Day was enjoyable.
