,

I am a rookie, but I think it is a yeast issue. Hopefully Dana will

answer, but that is my guess.

I'm not sure if it was the same thing, but my son used to rub his head

on me when he had yeast. Also hang his head upside down and push the

top of it into cushions, the floor, etc. Not violently but wanted the

pressure.

Hello,

I have heard that Cranial Sacral therapy can relieve head-butting.

He may be feeling pressure in his skull. Andy had recommended we

take my son to a cranial sacral therapist when I told him that he

bangs his head and likes to sleep with pressure on his skull. For

one reason or another we never did, and it kind of went away by

itself, but then many years later I actually did take him and the

doctor said that

there was awful pressure in the joints in his skull and he had been

dealing with this his whole life. After one session, he said that

the

joints have released and his head was normal now.. it might be worth

a

try for your child also. You could also read the book by

Upledger about Cranial

Sacral Therapy. It is a tiny book, but very inspiring.

Thanks for all the answers! I'll go and read about Phenol b/c I

don't know much about that. Yeast I am familiar with.

To help with digestion I recently started adding Enzymes and

Probiotics to my son's juice 2/3 times a day. (My son only eats 3

or 4 foods and will only drink juice). I have been using a yeast

eliminator called Candidaese but it is almost gone now. I have been

trying to do the Biomedical thing on my own for about a year but I

have not found any particular products that I love or that I stick

with.

I'm trying to change over to the recommended products in the hopes

that treating my son will get easier. I just ordered new products

from Kirkman. Isogest (enzymes), Yeast aid & Pro-Bio Gold.

For a kid with ASD with whom I worked (he always wanted head rubs) it was

subclinical seizures. But if I were you I would try CST first. The kid I'm

refering to loved chiropractic, we couldn't get an ok to take him for CST :-( .

In the case of the kid I referred to, he was essentially nonverbal, but I think

he thought we (staff) were somehow causing the discomfort he felt during the

seizures and struck out at us (hair pulling, biting, head butting, etc) because

he was mad at us.

My son does a LOT of head butting when his yeast/bacteria flares up.  It isn't a

seizure or anything else---it is TEMPER!!!  He gets VERY moody/emotional/angry

easily, and head butting must let out some of that aggresion.  He does it at

" appropriate times " as in--during a tantrum, or if I say no to something he

wants, etc.  However, once I get the yeast under control, the head butting

stops, and the tempers wind down to a " normal " amount for a 3-year-old! :)  Now

I know, as soon as I see a little edginess/moodiness, that IT'S

COOOOMMMMIIINNNGGG . . . unless I up his yeast protocol and get that darned

overgrowth under control!  I know head butting can be caused for various

reasons, but for us, this was it.  He DOES feel pain, and he does it " on

purpose " to let me know how mad he is!!  Sounds like your child seemed to do it

at times when his temper was up, too.  Could be yeast?  Bacteria?<BR>

Ever since my son got his helmet he head butts! it is making me crazy. Any advice on how to stop him. When he doesnt have the helmet on he does it too and gets hurt. Ugh so annoying. Only got my nose 2 or 3 times thankfully! I yell and he just laughs at me!

I dont think so cause he doesnt do it alone. Only on someone or if someone is sitting on the couch then he will bang his head on that. He got a reaction out of us when he started doing it now he thinks it is great lol.

It could be his way of stopping the itching. My son started rubbing

his head against anything in an almost trance-like state and gets

like that also when I rub his head for him. It stopped when I

started applying an anti-itch cream (my ortho suggested sarna

cream). I stopped it since his scalp broke down and I want to rule

that out as a cause because it smell pretty strong.

Anyone have experience with trying to help the itching that the

helmet causes?
