Guest guest
My son will be a year on Tues. He just recently started getting water in sippy cups but he doesn't do too good with them yet. He never seemed thirsty so I just nursed him and that seemed to quench his thirst. Guest guest
I got this in another group: I found this interesting article on the Internet. It's not news, but still it's an interesting read! The credit for this article is at the bottom of the page. The Benefits of Water Not drinking enough water brings a surprising number of problems including excess body fat, decreased digestive efficiency, increased toxicity in the body, poor muscle tone and size, joint soreness as a result of training, post-exercise muscle aches and fluid retention. Sufficient water intake helps us lose weight for at least four reasons: 1. It helps the body metabolize fat 2. It helps the body flush out waste 3. It tends to suppress the appetite 4. It rids the body of excess fluid, which shows up as excess weight. Studies have shown that an increase in water intake reduces body fat; while a decrease in water intake, increases body fat. The underlying reason for this is that the kidneys do not function optimally unless you are drinking sufficient water. If the kidneys are not working to capacity, the liver must lend assistance in processing toxins. In undertaking some of the work normally done by the kidneys, the liver is less effective in one of its primary functions ¿ metabolizing stored fat in the body into usable energy. Thus the relationship becomes clear; if you do not drink enough water (and most people probably do not), the liver cannot metabolize as much body fat, and weigh loss slows down. Whether you are an athlete or just someone with a weight problem, it is important to be in water balance. A lot of people have problems with fluid retention, bloating, and puffiness under the eyes. The way to get rid of fluid retention is to drink more water, not less. The less water you drink, the more you store. If you are retaining water, it means that probably you are not drinking enough. If you are not drinking enough, what does the body do? It starts retaining water in order to compensate for this drought. The body is a clever organism; when there is a shortage of anything, it starts storing it. So as paradoxical as it may seem, the way to eliminate fluid retention is to drink more water, not less.
