Guest guest
Wrong. Mike said that the thing SMELLS like fraud, and frankly it does. Every charitable organization on earth has administration costs....they just do. With so many charities floating around these days, and so many of them that are frauds, it is only prudent that questions are asked, especially about one that has you as its spokesperson providing sketchy details. The point is that at NO POINT would I or any other rational, reasonable person choose willingly to send money to any organization who's spokesperson threatened to sue somebody. Its a hollow, vapid threat that any honest lawyer would laugh at, and it was unbelieveably....well, just plainly stupid of you to say such an idiotic thing at the same time as soliciting donations for charitable purposes. I mean, seriously, who are you going to talk into giving you money after reading that? I might have donated, and I was going to tell Mike to ease up a bit while you had a chance to provide some details, but there is no way in hell that I'll have anything to do with your organization even if it was the cleanest on earth, and whats more, I'll tell anybody else who I can reach to avoid it as well. magnetass sends Re: Wind Foundation >>> >>> >>> What's your web site? >>> >>> Who's your board of directors? >>> >>> How are you funded? >>> >>> Mike >>> >>> On Mon, 17 Jan 2005 05:14:29 -0000, windfoundation >>> wrote: >>> > >>> > >>> > need help with getting data about Volunteer EMS Service that are in >>> > need of help Ie needing a new ambulance. we would like to help but >>> > need justifcation ina report. what we need is what the department is >>> > the amount of thier budget amout they bill and the amount they >>> > collect. and if they are over budget. espeicaly those that are in an >>> > emergency need. >>> > >>> > About WIND FOUNDATION >>> > >>> > The WIND FOUNDATION was formed in March of 2004 to meet the needs >>> > of small volunteer emergency medical services (EMS) groups providing >>> > emergency medical care to citizens in their communities, including >>> > the indigent. >>> > >>> > The Wind Foundation will seek to provide support for these groups >>> > from businesses, citizens and government agencies. Guest guest
Taking it " personally " is why you need to not be speaking for this foundation, or if you insist on continuing, you become a LOT less defensive about the inevitable questions, and immediately cease ANY reference to filing any kind of lawsuit against anybody. It appears incredibly smarmy ( I got away with that word in a Scrabble game once) and serves no purpose other than to cost you contributors like it did with me. magnetass sends Re: Wind Foundation >>>> >>>> >>>> What's your web site? >>>> >>>> Who's your board of directors? >>>> >>>> How are you funded? >>>> >>>> Mike >>>> >>>> On Mon, 17 Jan 2005 05:14:29 -0000, windfoundation >>>> wrote: >>>> > >>>> > >>>> > need help with getting data about Volunteer EMS Service that are in >>>> > need of help Ie needing a new ambulance. we would like to help but >>>> > need justifcation ina report. what we need is what the department is >>>> > the amount of thier budget amout they bill and the amount they >>>> > collect. and if they are over budget. espeicaly those that are in an >>>> > emergency need. >>>> > >>>> > About WIND FOUNDATION >>>> > >>>> > The WIND FOUNDATION was formed in March of 2004 to meet the needs >>>> > of small volunteer emergency medical services (EMS) groups providing >>>> > emergency medical care to citizens in their communities, including >>>> > the indigent. >>>> > >>>> > The Wind Foundation will seek to provide support for these groups >>>> > from businesses, citizens and government agencies. Guest guest
Whatever it is that they want, it ceased to be anything legitimate the second the L word was used. If anything I EVER say makes any sense, this is the thing that I mean the most. In our industry, the very mention of the word lawsuit in a threatening, or frivolous manner ought to infuriate any rational person. I don't care what Mike said, and as I posted, I was going to ask him to back off until we could see some details, the milisecond the word " lawsuit " was used, I'm through, and will become just short of openly hostile. EMS is on the verge of being ruined by idiotic lawsuits, and when they aren't being leveled at us directly, they cause damage to the industry in countless ways from defensive medicine, to transporting every minor MVA victim with " jackpot syndrome " . I'm up to (reaching way above my head) here with listening to people threaten lawsuits when they don't like something somebody said or did. You really want to get 's pulse up....say something about suing somebody over something this stupid. I'm sorry if it offended you Donn, but this is the quickest way to get me to be " reactionary " . These include any annual information returns whose required or actual filing date was within the last three years, which generally means the three most recent returns. These annual returns use Form 990 and its variants for 501© organizations, and Form 1065 for 501(d) organizations. If the organization filed its application for tax-exempt status (e.g. Form 1023 or 1024) after July 15, 1987 or possessed a copy of its application materials on that date, it must also make copies of that application available to the public. All schedules, attachments and other supporting material submitted with the annual return and application must also be disclosed, with exceptions noted below. Public access must be provided promptly on request by allowing inspection of the documents at the organization's office or offices, and by providing copies of the documents promptly in response to any in-person request or within 30 days for a written request. However, organizations don't have to provide copies if they make these materials widely available through publication on the Internet, or if the IRS determines that the organization is being subject to a harassment campaign. The organization is permitted to require a payment in advance for actual postage costs incurred, and a copying fee of up to $1 for the first page and $0.15 for each page thereafter. The request may be for only certain documents, or only certain portions of documents, in which case the charges must be for only those pages. NPO staff members who fail to comply with the new law and regulations are personally subject to fines and other penalties (i.e. the person refusing to provide public access gets fined, not the organization). The law allows certain information to be excepted from public disclosure. However, other than this specifically excepted material, all schedules, attachments and other material associated with the annual information returns and application for tax-exempt status submitted to the IRS must also be disclosed, as must any letter or other document issued by the IRS with respect to the application.
