Guest guest
Well since I'm off the prednisone they also took me off of the other BP med I was on, I'm still on the patch but no more pills till my next round of problems. I almost feel " normal " , my BP did get a bit high on Saturday but it was the day before my birthday and I got WASTED. Other then that it's been about a week since I even felt I had to check it. I am looking great and my clothes are fitting right again, I don't have to wear my boyfiends clothes anymore. BRANDY
Guest guest
Happy Bday !! I'm quite jealous that you are off the prednisone already. I'm going for my next lab test this week, and then I see the neph on May 31...hoping things are going well, so that I can keep taking the prednisone for a while. Guest guest
Congrads on the loss of meds and Happy Birthday If you should feel left out I still have plenty of them to go around. Just choose your drug type (lol just kidding) Great news that you are back into your own clothes. Guest guest
Hi Dave. We have had quite a few members post about gout. You might want to search past messages from our Yahoo home page. They should be there. The short answer though, is that, it's really treated as a separate issue from the IgAN. IgAN does not cause gout, and for most people, contrary to popular belief, even advanced kidney failure does not cause gout in most people. But, if a person is already prone to gout, then it's possible that having some degree of chronic renal insufficiency will trigger it if the diet had too many of the things that favour gout in it. Most people with IgAN who have gout are treated the same as anyone else who has gout: allupurinol. About disability... Not hard to get on if you have reached end-stage renal disease and you need to go on dialysis. Almost impossible to get before that, unless there is something more than just the IgAN or the chronic renal insufficiency, or if the job is so physical that it's impossible to do it (but this is unlikely unless the kidney failure is really advanced and problematic). Something more than IgAN might be very severe, treatment-resistant high blood pressure, other disease that compount the problems, like severe asthma, heart problems, etc. But for IgAN alone, not really until you need dialysis (or a transplant).
