A Goiter can be diffuse meaning it is equally inflammed and have no nodules or growths. Or a goiter can contain nodules. A nodule is a growth or deposit inside the thyroid. Depending on the type of nodule they can be hot or cold. A hot nodule is a hyper concentration of thyroid hormone..non- cancerous. A cold nodule is a non functioning nodule, it may or may not be cancerous. A tumor is just that..a growth. It may or may not contain cells from that area..and it may or may not be cancerous.
