Guest guest
I just did a 24 hr visit to NYC for a 2nd opinion on my proposed thyroid surgery, and I am so glad I did. I had a lot of unanswered question, and knowing how difficult this surgery will be( 3rd thyroid-6th neck)wanted to make sure I was making correct decisions. Ihe doctor I saw at Memorial Sloan Kettering CC couldn\'t have been nicer. He reviewed my numerous tests and scans and answered a lot of questions. He confirmed what I already knew; that the surgery was going to be difficult technically and leave me open for hypoparathyroidism , possible spinal cord compression and, less likely, both vocal cords paralyzed (rt. one already is.)But he bolstered my confidence since he knows my surgeon in Atl. and knows that he can handle the job. The pathologists will review the FNA since the report was inconclusive, but called suspicious. Since I\'ve had papca in the past, the assumption is it has returned along with my thyroid whuch was removed 12 years ago. So far, no one has an answer as to why it grew back when the TSH has been adequately suppressed for all these years.
