I'm going to ask a question that is going to be kind of gross, so I'm warning you guys ahead of time, in case there are those who absolutely do NOT want to read it. But 's nurse wasn't sure what to make of it, so I thought I'd ask you all. The other night, when had one of his many-per-day bowel movements, there was a long white mucus looking string of stuff that came out. He's never had anything like that before. With all the talk of UC and IBD, I worry that it could have something to do with one of those. Especially when, as I said before, he was never tested for either one, and I don't know what the symptoms are for UC. This does, however, prompt me even more to insist on a colonoscopy when he has his next ERCP. Any thoughts on this might have been? AmiAmi mom to - 8 yrs old - Double Lung Tx

Mucus in stool is typical in active UC (I've experienced it, although it's

been 30 years) - see http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/mucus_stool.htm for a

few others.

Ami, When I first started to show symptoms of UC two years ago, sometimes, instead of blood, I would get mucous globs in my bowel movements. Strings, sometimes little balls of it. I was told it has to do with inflammation of the UC and sometimes I still get them, the symptoms flaring with with stress, etc but only now and then. Perhaps have him tested for this. Hope this helps. Ami Fox wrote: I'm going to ask a question that is
