Hi Jill,

The only way I know to tell if you are in the nephrotic range is with a urine

test, either a creatinine protein ratio on a random, or with a 24 hour urine.

There is no way visually to tell how much protein you are spilling

unfortunately.

Most people with IgAN only have visible urine (cola colored) when they are

having a flare up. I would definitely ask your Neph about that if yours is

always dark.

I don't know of anything that would make IgAN look like a bladder infection.

Sorry to not be of more help on this one.

Hi Jill,

Re homekits for urinalysis. If they are dipsticks showing levels of

protein and blood.... this would show positive. In urinary tact

infections there also can be a blood/protein mix in the urine.

Don't know if this is the answer to your question ?

Take care, Maureen
