Guest guest
Hi, everyone. I have a question, as well as memory difficulties right now, because I know that this has been discussed previously, but I am drawing a blank. Here's the brief scenario. I have papillary cancer, had my TT in July, followed by RAI. Started back on Synthroid (100 mcg) three days after RAI. Saw my endo. yesterday, for blood work, which will be back probably tomorrow. I have a really, really, really good notion that he will raise my Synthroid dose, and then I see him again in about 6 weeks for more blood. My question is, then what? I mean, after your TSH and blood levels are where they should be, then what? When do you start scans, etc? Any insight appreciated. Thanks in advance, Just east of Cleveland, Ohio (<----- , are you proud that I finally remembered to do this?!) 5-02 FNA 6-02 Core Biopsy Dx pap cancer 7-10-02 TT with lymph nodes removed here and there 7-30-02 RAI 156 mCi (an experience to remember always)
Guest guest
I believe it depends on individual physician protocol and how extensive your thyca was when discovered. My doctor has decided to do every six months for a bit, and then hopefully I wll be extended to yearly. (My impending scan was delayed due to a second surgery) I may have misunderstood your query - stopped Cytomel on the 6th.... Not the brightest needle in the pack, Shelagh TT/modified right neck dissection 10/31/01 RAI 155 mCi 12/11/01 limited radical right/modified left neck dissection 6/26/02 WBS 9/25/

Guest guest
Hi, - A followup scan usually is done at 6 months to a year post RAI. I'd check with your endo to find out their protocol. I was told that I'll have a scan at 6 months, then another a year after that. After I have 2 clean scans (not including the ones done just before and after my RAI - and assuming I don't have TG antibodies), I was told I will be followed with blood work and ultrasounds. Don't know the exact timing of that, since it's pretty far in the future.
