Hi

Glad to hear your son is doing well. You sound like you have been through

a stressful time. Good luck and much love in the future.

I have been told by a natropath to take a product called 'Three'. It has

iodine in it and she has told me 'NOT' to take the Neo Mercazole and to

take high doses of this 'Three'. I'm sure I need to take the Neo Mercazole

until I see what is happening. I will have a look today in our local

health food store for products containing copper.

Nice hearing from you

Sue

  • 11 months later...

Hi:

Some of you may remember me when I posted several times last October

and November and then I was online for awhile. My 22 month old son,

last November 17th, had a seizure at home and went into the hospital.

It was discovered that the arteries leading to his left kidney were

defective which caused him to have high blood pressure and a mild

stroke. He just came home last week from another hospital to which he

had a kidney bypass surgery. His blood pressure is starting to come

down a bit. He's going to do OK.

Any way, about myself, I don't believe I'd formally did an

introduction. I was diagnosed with GD in February of 2001. I had the

symptoms since October, 2000. I previously had the symptoms of GD in

1995 soon after birth of my 4th child and then it went away. At that

time, I didn't know it was GD. I was nursing my baby back then.

I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis since September of 1992. I believe my

GD resulted from problems with the immune system. This is why I

probably have RA from this as well.

I see an ND and take supplements to ease my GD's and RA's symptoms.

Surprisingly taking the same supplement, Copper, have made a big

difference in my life as well as the Cal/Mag.

Because that my toddler had been in and out of the hospital the last

three months, I was not doing a good job of taking care of myself

supplements-wise and felt awful from being stressed out with being at

the hospitals all the time. Luckily, in the 11 days we have been

home, I've felt much better in taking a good care of myself.

I am glad to read of all the posts and get a good idea why getting an

RAI is not such a good idea. :-)

Take care,

Hi Sue,

Taking anything with iodine in it will stimulate your thyroid to make MORE

hormone...that is not something you want to do. We should avoid extra

iodine at all costs.

As for the itching that is constant...I would suggest you call your doctor

about it. You *may* be having a reaction to your atd, or it could be the

graves, which will promote itching also. If you are having a reaction to

you atd, do they also use PTU where you live? Many times patients who can't

tolerate one of the atd's do find on the other one.

Welcome to the group,

Jody

Thanks Jody.

I went into our local book shop to order the book yesterday (Elaines) and

was told that they have to order from England. They did say leave it in

their hands. I am off to Sydney this weekend to will have a little scout

around whilst up there. I am very friendly with the owners of our local

health food store so when I find it I will recommend they get it in.

Thanks for all you help and your caring

Sue

Hi Jody

As I am working my way back through the posts a lot of my questions are

being answered. Actually this list has been the best thing. I don't feel

like its all in my head.

Hi Sue,

It is a huge relief to have your symptoms validated isn't it! I was so

thankful when I found my first group, which led be to here, and I can

remember my first day, just reading and crying and feeling like this huge

wait was lifted off of my shoulders. Knowing I was not alone in how I felt

and others truly did understand, seemed to make me feel better even before

much learning started kicking in.

Keep reading Sue, this disease can be frustrating, but it will no longer be

terrifying for you. The more proactive you become, the more you learn, the

quicker you will be feeling better...honest!
