Guest guest
I don't know how many times in the last 2 years that I have talked to doctors, explained my symptoms and they have said well I think you need some anti-depressants. That is their first response. They have given me Zoloft, Celexa, or Paxil as a way. I have tried them and they make me even worse than I already am! They make me so I can't do anything anymore. I can't even get out of bed when they have done this to me! If that does not work they start sending you to neurologists that don't know anymore about it than they do! The neurologist says well let's test for MS. You don't have that so what else could it be but no doctor wants to tell you! Doctors need to start being real and learning about Fibromyagia. It's for real! And very painful! You are to the point where you are boiling inside and say hey! Their has to be someone better out there in this lovely HMO community. Then you go to Mayo Clinic, sure it will cost you but it is very worth it to find an appropriate diagnosis. You will go through days of waiting for an appointment but usually with cancellations and no shows you can get in the same day or next day. It took me 4 days to get through all of the appointments and the final diagnosis. I will say bring a book or two, maybe a newspaper, as sometimes you may get turned down the first day but be scheduled the next day for a real appointment. You need something to read to make the time go by more quickly. When you first go there it looks very hopeless. You get a schedule from the doctor that ranges out for a month. But then you sit and play the waiting game and you usually always can get in and do it within a 4-5 days. You just have to go along with the game. It took about 5 days to get through and it was worth it to me mentally and physically. I knew what I had but no doctor in Des Moines would say this is Fibromyalgia. As they are all quacks here and don't want to believe such a disease or syndrome is true or help treat someone with it. They all think it's upstairs and that is not true at all! Doctors don't really know what kind of pain you are in. They may see it in your eyes but they cannot feel it with this disease. My suggestion is if you see this in yourself see a good Rheumatologist or Doctor that is of Herbalistic Nature. They will be able to see this immediately instead of going around to neurologists and regular doctors that have no idea of what you have! It's especially important to females as many women have this disease. It's about 80% female and 20% male. I am a male with this disease and just wanted to let you know as it is so rare among men.
