Guest guest
I see I'm not the only one who feels guilty about my son's plagio. He was born with somewhat of a flat back of the head but it seemed to get worse and I didn't know that leaving him in his beloved bouncy seat so much would cause problems. Despite our best efforts to reposition him at night he would always wake up sleeping on the flatest part of his head. learned to roll over at 3 months (goes to show how different babies really are) and he wouldn't have any of the repositioning after that. All we can do now is the best for him. got his docband at Cranial Technologies in Dallas, TX on March 2nd. The first night he woke up every hour until after the fourth time we took it off. The second day he managed to take a few naps with it on but still waking up and didn't make it through the night with the band on. Today I spent a lot of time with him on the floor and now that he seems to have the hang of rolling over with the docband on his head he seems to have made peace with sleeping with it on. He took 2 great naps today with the band on and has now been sleeping for 2 hours without waking tonight. I don't know if it was the three days or the tummy time he got today but he seems to be doing better which makes me feel better too. I still feel guilty and that I am to blame for him having to go through this. How do you deal with the guilt? Congrats Carol G. on a successful surgery for Dominick. I hope his recovery continues to go smoothly. (mom of 6 months old) Dallas, TX Bring photos to life! New PhotoMail makes sharing a breeze. Guest guest
I don't know how to deal with quilt..i still feel it..badly. Even if noone told us that the baby should sleep with his head on different side every night i still feel quilty..i mean..i'm his mom..how could i didn't realise something was wrong? The only think i can do now is to work out with him for his tort as much as possibly can and make it fun for him and pray that soon he will be all better. I already saw improvment at Matt today and I'm so proud of him and so happy. He was in his highchair having his dinner and for the first time in weeks he keapt his head straight not tilted. Probably because at our last PT appoit. the therapist told us that the most important are the streatching exercises and even if my husband and I have very different schedules we need to find time to do the streaching twice a day.OUr last appt. was Tuesday and Wednesday ,both baby and I got down with the flu so we start the streachings only yesterday. And I already so improvment at him..isn't this amazing? I hope it will last and from now have more and more improvments every day:) Andra Matt(6month) tort & plagio > > I see I'm not the only one who feels guilty about my son's plagio. Guest guest
, So glad to hear that he is sleeping better tonight so far, I hope he gets back to his normal pattern soon. Like I say, don't feel guilty over something you were never taught about or warned of. Dominick is my fourth baby and I never knew a thing about it either. Be proud of yourself for getting your baby the best possible care. CAROLG > > I see I'm not the only one who feels guilty about my son's plagio. Guest guest
Andra, You are a mom, and that guilt is just something that comes with it,lol. You said it, that's your baby. Even though I know better, I feel partly responsible for Dominick's eye problems because I have eye problems too, I feel like I gave them to him. All I can say is that eventually the guilt fades and is usually replaced with anger over never being given a chance to prevent it because you were never educated by any of the medical professionals. I am glad you saw improvement already with Matt, good job!! It is hard, but you can do this and we will all be here to support you. Guest guest
Hi Your not to blame for his plagio. It just takes time to realize that. No one tells you about this stuff when you leave the hospital. How are you supposto know.
