Now that HF has been brought up, I pose the following scenario:

You are called to a glass factory where HF is used to etch glass. A 30 year

old female worker has gotten HF on her hands, and some has also splashed onto

her right arm. She was working with a 70% solution. She complains of

terrible pain in her hands and arm and she is coughing and speaking with a

hoarse

voice.

What are your overall concerns about this patient's exposure?

In your treatment plan:

What will be your immediate actions and why?

What treatments will you give after that and why?

Assuming that you do not have one of the recommended components of treatment,

what can you find at the 7-ll store across the street that may help, and how

will you use it?

Runners-up will receive the usual trip to Ladonia, TX, and the winner won't

have to go.
