Guest guest
OK, here's the latest. Let me know what you think: Total T4 is 10.0 with a range of 4.5 - 12.0 TSH by immulite is 0.025 with a range of 0.4 - 4.0 Free T4 by immulite is 2.0 with a range of 0.8 - 1.9 Total T3 by immulite is 148. with a range of 82 - 179 In the lipid panel, there is free T3 by immulite of 4.3 with a range of 2.1 - 4.7 Additionally, sodium and potassium are high, red cell dist. width is high, eos is high, and WBC is near the low end of normal. Any thoughts on this? Guest guest
Me again, I only understand the thyroid #'s and yes, still hyper then. Bet there's someone else here that can help with the others. Maybe she did just do something odd to her hand. I guess that could happen to a person. LOL Hang in there, and lets us know how she is doing. I get the feeling between the bunch of us, this girl will not be in hypo hell. We will not allow it. :-) -Pam- have a great weekend... looking more and more like REAL spring here

Guest guest
Hi Amy's Pam, I will leave the medical explanation to Elaine, but her numbers are either in the normal range or very close to it, except her TSH, and that is still almost to the low end of normal... BUT...these were taken on 3/12, that is 10 days ago...they very well could have dropped into the hypo range, or into Amy's hypO range. I would definately call and request labs asap. If Amy is on treatment (forgive me, I can't remember) then she's showing a good response. The TSH will take a while to rise so don't worry about that test. The fact that she's registering some TSH at all is a good sign. The white blood cell count (WBC) is often a little low in Graves' disease and nothing to worry about. If she's on ATDs and it drops down to below 2,000 then that's getting too low. Eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) are high in allergies so if she is having any seasonal allergies they'll be slightly elevated. Seasonal allergies can also cause symptoms in GD to be worse so if she is allergic to anything, it's best to avoid or eliminate it or keep it under control with meds or nutrient supplements (Dr. Weil recommends stinging nettles, bromelain and quercetin and these really help keep my dog allergies in control). The red cell distribution width (RDW) is often elevated in kids. It just shows a mixed population of red cells. Since you didn't mention the MCV being off, then on average all her red blood cells are normal sized. sodium and potassium could be high from diet, although about 90% of the time the potassium is elevated because of a hemolyzed specimen, where the blood cells break down during the collection process. Your doctor will probably repeat the potassium if it's higher than 6.0. Take care, Elaine

Guest guest
Amy's Pam - Wow - looks like Amy's having a good response to the ATD's! I don't remember how high her original values were, but just the drop from a higher range to a lower range can make her " feel " hypo, even if the values show she's not yet. Just experienced that myself! Was positive I was hypo, but not yet - had the same feeling of being cold and all the joint pain that Amy has. Definitely keep an eye on the labs, might not take long for her to hit hypo, especially since she's come down in such a short time on the ATDs. Great news! So glad she's feeling a little better, too! Guest guest
Hi Amy's Pam I have had a large drop also and I am having similar symptoms. I felt good for a few days, but now I can't stay awake in the evenings and noticed that I'm aching when I get up if I sit for even a few minutes. I have dry eyes and blinking a lot. I have also noticed that heart pulpitations have come back especially in the afternoons. I have lowered my medication by 10mg, and that has only been for a week. Guest guest
Hi Sue, Have you split your dosage also? This may really help you by splitting it into 8 hour time frames. Also, did you call the doc for labs...I'm sorry, I just can't remember. ;-) Jody _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

Guest guest
No I won't be calling for at least another two weeks. It was two weeks ago that I had them done. The good thing is that my local doc is happy to help. Haven't split the medication, but will be trying it today. Guest guest
Hi, Sue, I'm so glad to know you're having the same problems, although I don't wish them on you! Amy has had a horrible last 36 hours. Today she fell apart emotionally at least three times. Some of it may be that she turned 14 and is feeling lousy with the whole Graves' issue, and some of it may be just the Graves'. Her pulse rate has risen again. Sigh. Thanks for the input. It is so helpful. Amy's Pam In a message dated 3/23/2002 2:26:08 PM Central Standard Time, theraccs@... writes: > Hi Amy's Pam > I have had a large drop also and I am having similar symptoms. Guest guest
Hi Sue, If you start presenting any more of the hypo symptoms, don't hold out for labs. You don't want to go down that old hypo highway!
