Guest guest
He wants to be a she. He takes estrogen to that end. I type several of these reports a month so I'm guessing that it's not that uncommon. Although I don't find humor in the subject, I have had some interesting dictations about it. One PA asked someone else in the office how to dictate the report. The guy came in dressed as a woman and gave a female name. The PA said " he...er... I mean...she...er... " all through the report. By the end of the report she was laughing so hard she could hardly talk. The person in the office told her that she had to refer to him as her and she, regardless of physical gender. There's a protocol for handling this but I can't think of the name right off the top of my head. Doctors refer to it saying that they treated the patient according to this protocol. It apparently is a bunch of guidlines about how to deal with the issue sensitively and legally. I wish someone would show it to the PA. Re: Is this a word? Tani, Am I right in thinking that the doc means that the patient is being started on estrogen? Just wondering if it is anything like coumadinization, which is now a word because it has been used for so long. Just my thoughts, Margaret >>> " Tani " 02/19/03 12:26PM >>> Doc dictates " estrogenization " . Spell check doesn't like it and doens't suggest an alternative. Should it be estrogenation, which spell check doesn't like either or the way the doc says it?
