Guest guest
Hello Everybody, I wanted to let you know about a little undertaking of mine. I qualified this morning for a tryout in 610 WIP's Wing Bowl competition. The contest is a wing eating competition in Philadelphia held on 2/3/05. The contest is sponsored by Sports Radio WIP 610 AM. I am competing, first, because I love to eat, but second, to raise awareness for Celiac. In order to tryout, you must call the radio show and propose an eating stunt. I did that this morning. I called in under the stage name " Glutenless Pete " and explained what Celiac disease was, and how I wanted to raise awareness during this contest that draws 20,000 people to Philadlephia's Wachovia Center. The name " Glutenless Pete " is a take off of the Simpsons episode where Homer sues an all you can eat restaurant for kicking him out. He's awarded a job as the restaurant's mascot named " Bottomless Pete " . After asking me if I was " coming in to eat doughnuts " (jokingly) host Angelo Cataldi said he " admired a man with a cause " and said he'd like to have me come in. Co-host Al ti chimed in saying that he had just read an article about Celiac the other day. So, I'm headed in to the studio on Tuesday 1/10 at 6:30 AM to eat a 48 oz steak on the air. If you are in the Philly area, listen at 610 AM on your radio. You can also listen live, or check out the recap, after I'm done at, http://www.610wip.com Wish me luck! paul P.S. If you have any facts and figures about Celiac, you think I should mention on the air, please let me know. I have a few tidbits, but it never hurts to have more info.
