Texoma Paramedic Taken off Employee Schedule

A Texoma doctor doesn't want a specific paramedic to help his patients, and

now Marshall County Emergency Management Services may have some big

decisions to make.

Paramedics must have approval from the doctors they work under. In today

special board meeting, one of Marshall County's paramedics no longer has

approval to work.

In a letter submitted to the EMS board by doctor Goodwin, it stated

medic Sheryl Massingill has received numerous complaints, claiming she is

very aggressive and has written two articles that are, " very offensive " .

Those articles were published on websites where paramedics express their

opinions about their everyday duties. Massengill responds, " Just like you

have the right to put news on TV, you have the right to put news on when's

it's newsworthy. I have the right to put my own opinion and write about it.

Every one of us has our first amendment right. " Marshall County EMS attorney

Jeff Landgraf says, " The board has simply took the letter under the under

advisement and has will forward that that to the person that schedules and

this person will not be put back on the schedule until such as a time a

doctor will sign off on her protocols. "

Massingill's last day of work with the Marshall County EMS was July 1st. She

has not been rescheduled since then.
